Product Functions

Kosmen KM-480S dehumidifier is a high-capacity dehumidification unit designed for multi-industry humidity control, including pharmaceuticals, printing, garment manufacturing, drying and storage, food processing, and more.

Dehumidification

Effectively controls humidity in large spaces, preventing mold growth and protecting electronic equipment, agricultural products, documents, and production materials. With a dehumidification capacity of 480 liters/day, it is suitable for areas of 600–800 m².

Drying

Dries using dehumidified airflow while maintaining environmental humidity balance. Quickly and continuously removes moisture from the air or objects to dry spaces, items, or raw materials.

Timing

Allows setting the operating time from 1 to 24 hours, saving energy and making management easy.

Wi-Fi

Connect the device to the “Tuya Smart” or “Smart Life” app for remote control, monitoring environmental humidity, and scheduling operation.

CO – Continuous Mode

The device operates continuously to maintain the lowest possible humidity, ideal for storage rooms, factories, or drying rooms.

Auto Defrost

When the sensor detects frost on the evaporator, the device will automatically stop and defrost, then resume normal operation.

Memory Function

In the event of a power outage, the device automatically remembers its previous operating state and resumes operation when power returns within 72 hours.

Note: Turn off the power when not in use to save energy and ensure safety.

Control Instruction

On/Off Button

Press to turn the device on or off.

Timing

Press the “Timing” button; the indicator light will turn on, and the setting will blink from 0–24 hours as desired. Then press the “Timer” button until the display shows “00”.  After eight blinks, the screen will show the current humidity, and the timing function will be enabled/disabled.

Dry Mode

Turn the drying mode on or off. Press the “+/-” buttons or another button to exit drying mode.

CO Mode

Turn the continuous dehumidification mode on. Press the “+/-” buttons or another button to exit continuous mode.

ADD (+)

Each press increases the set humidity value by 1%. (The device will return to displaying the ambient humidity after 6 seconds of no adjustment.)

Subtract (-)

Each press decreases the set humidity value by 1%. (The device will return to displaying the ambient humidity after 6 seconds of no adjustment.)

Set

This setting is intended for maintenance technicians. Please do not use it.

Wi-Fi Connection

1. Download the “Smart Life” or “Tuya Smart” app on your phone.
2. Press and hold the “WiFi” button on the device for 5 seconds to enter connection mode.
3. Scan the QR code on the device or search for the device in the app to connect.

Note:

• When connecting, ensure that all three devices — the dehumidifier, your phone, and the router — are close to each other.
• Ensure a stable network connection.
• Follow the app instructions to complete the connection.
• Make sure the Wi-Fi password is correct.
• The device can only connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

Operating Instruction

Operating the Dehumidifier

When the device is turned on for the first time, it will be in standby mode. Press the On/Off button to start the device. Then set the desired humidity at least 5% lower than the current ambient humidity to begin operation. If the set humidity is higher than the surrounding environmental humidity, the dehumidifier will not operate.

Compressor Operation Mode

• The compressor will restart after a 3-minute safety protection period if the room humidity ≥ set humidity + 5% RH.
• The compressor will stop operating if the room humidity < set humidity - 5% RH.
• If the room humidity is within the stable range:
  (Set Humidity - 5%) < Current Humidity < (Set Humidity + 5% RH),
  the device will maintain its current state and will not turn the compressor on/off continuously.
• Once the humidity reaches the set threshold, if the compressor has not been operating for 3 minutes, the fan will automatically stop to save energy and protect the device.
• After the device has been running for 30 minutes, the temperature sensor on the copper coil will start measuring temperature. If within 3 seconds the coil temperature drops ≤ -1°C, the compressor stops, the fan continues running, and the defrost operation begins. The indicator light will turn on.
• When the temperature sensor detects that the coil temperature reaches or exceeds 5°C within 3 minutes, the defrost process ends.

Drain Indicator Light

The device is equipped with a 60 cm drain hose for direct water discharge. When using the hose drainage function, please note:

• Do not place the hose end in water to prevent backflow into the device.
• Do not make the hose too long or elevate it excessively, as this can create back pressure inside the hose and cause blockage.
• If water cannot flow freely, the device may leak or display an error.

Always ensure the drain hose is installed correctly and kept unobstructed during operation to maintain stable performance.

Notes for Using the Kosmen KM-480S Industrial Dehumidifier

To ensure efficient, safe, and long-lasting operation, users should follow these usage and maintenance guidelines:

1. Placement of the Device

• Place the unit upright on a flat surface. Avoid tilting or placing it on uneven ground to minimize vibration during operation.
• Keep the device at least 30 cm away from walls and flammable objects to ensure unobstructed airflow, preventing overheating and overloading.
• Do not place the device in enclosed cabinets, vehicles, or narrow spaces with poor air circulation.
• Ensure the device is used indoors only. Do not use it outdoors or in damp environments.

2. Safe Operation

• After moving the device, let it stand upright for at least 1 hour before plugging it in to prevent damage to the refrigeration system.
• Check the power supply before use to ensure the correct voltage, avoiding overloads or short circuits.
• Do not block the air intake or the heat dissipation grille while the device is operating.
• Do not unplug the device abruptly; always turn it off using the power button before cleaning or moving the unit.
• Avoid contact with water, chemicals, or flammable materials. Do not use the device in areas with a risk of fire or explosion.
• Children must not operate the device without adult supervision.

3. Set Appropriate Humidity Levels for Different Applications

Each type of material or equipment has its ideal humidity range. Adjust the device accordingly to ensure optimal preservation:

• Documents: Temperature 20 ± 2°C, Humidity 50 ± 5%.
• Grains/Rice: Humidity 12 – 12.5%.
• Musical Instruments: Humidity 45 – 55%.
• Herbal Medicines: Humidity 60 – 65%.
• Electronic Equipment: Temperature below 35°C, Humidity 60 – 70%.

4. Use in Enclosed Spaces

• Limit opening windows or doors while the device is operating to prevent outside humid air from reducing dehumidification efficiency.
• Keeping the space enclosed helps the device operate more efficiently, maintain stable humidity, and prolong its lifespan.

5. Maintenance and Repairs

• Clean the filter and evaporator twice a month, especially when used in dusty environments.
• Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, damp cloth (wrung out). Do not allow water to enter the interior of the device.

Do not disassemble or repair the device yourself. Only authorized technicians are permitted to perform maintenance or repairs at the service center.
