- Updated at 12/02/2026, 15:59In light of the noticeable impact of humid weather conditions in recent years, people are becoming increasingly aware of and concerned about forecasts regarding the timing and intensity of the 2026 humidity season. Many households have proactively sought and implemented preventive measures to minimize the negative effects of prolonged damp conditions on daily life and production activities during this period.
Humid Conditions May Last Until the End of April 2026 in Many Areas
The unseasonal humid spell that occurred in November 2025 is considered a sign of unpredictable weather developments, raising concerns that 2026 may continue to experience unusual climate fluctuations. This phenomenon has also led many to question whether this year’s humid season may arrive earlier than in previous years.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, light rain and drizzle are expected to occur frequently across northern provinces and cities from the second half of February through March 2026. This weather pattern is typical during the transition from winter to spring and is especially common after the Lunar New Year (Tet).
In addition, meteorological authorities have assessed that the amount of light rain and drizzle this year will be approximately in line with the multi-year average. However, humid conditions are forecast to persist and are not expected to subside significantly until the end of April 2026.
Due to the characteristics of this weather pattern, the 2026 humidity season is expected to affect many localities nationwide, including:
- The Red River Delta region, including Hanoi, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh (prior to administrative mergers), Hung Yen (including former Thai Binh), Hai Phong (including former Hai Duong), and Ninh Binh (including former Ha Nam and Nam Dinh). These northern provinces and cities are expected to experience the most significant impact, with prolonged high humidity levels causing considerable inconvenience to daily life and production activities.
- The North Central region, the Northern Midlands and Mountainous areas, and several Central provinces, including Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang (prior to administrative mergers), and Phu Tho (including former Vinh Phuc), may also be affected by humid conditions. Although the severity may be lower, proactive preventive and control measures are still recommended.
Solutions to Protect Health and Maintain Homes During the Humid Season
High humidity during periods of drizzle creates favorable conditions for the development and rapid spread of respiratory infectious diseases, especially measles. Furthermore, elevated humidity combined with intermittent weak cold air masses and warm, moist air typical of seasonal transitions increases the risk of respiratory illnesses (bronchitis, asthma, rhinitis), digestive diseases (diarrhea, foodborne infections), skin conditions (allergies, fungal infections, chickenpox), and conjunctivitis.
This type of weather particularly affects individuals with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, young children, and those with underlying health conditions.

The 2-in-1 dehumidifier becomes an effective solution that combines dehumidification and air purification for humid, damp days.
In addition to health concerns, the humid season also poses challenges for household maintenance. Common issues include walls and floors becoming damp with condensation, clothes failing to dry properly, electrical appliances malfunctioning due to moisture, and wooden furniture becoming moldy.
Following the humid spell in November 2025, many families have proactively learned about the effects of high humidity and prepared preventive measures not only for the humid season but also for year-round health protection. During humid days, doors and windows should be kept closed during the most humid times of the day, particularly in the morning and evening. Windows should only be opened when the outdoor air is drier than indoor air, such as around midday or early afternoon, or briefly when ventilation is necessary during cooking.
For cleaning and household maintenance during humid weather, consider the following measures:
- Mop floors only with a dry or slightly damp cloth, as overly wet mops can worsen indoor humidity.
- Avoid using fans, as they may circulate moist air into corners and household items, increasing the risk of mold.
- Seal gaps and cracks in the house to prevent external moisture from entering.
- Regularly clean, disinfect, and thoroughly dry bamboo, rattan, and wooden items, as they are highly susceptible to mold in high humidity.
- Use moisture-absorbing materials such as desiccant packets, quicklime, or charcoal to reduce humidity and odors.
- Use a clothes dryer and store garments carefully in wardrobes with moisture-absorbing sachets to prevent musty odors, fabric discoloration, or re-absorption of moisture.
- If using an air conditioner to reduce humidity, select Dry mode. For optimal effectiveness, use a dehumidifier to maintain safe indoor humidity levels for better health protection and improved preservation of household items. Some dehumidifier models with built-in drying functions can also be used to dry clothes, as they simultaneously remove moisture and dry fabrics, preventing mold and re-dampening.
