Nguyen Hai Long: From Rising Young Talent to Making His Mark for the National Team

The boy from Tien Yen and his first steps on the pitch

Hai Long is the second child in his family. He was born in the Year of the Dragon, which is why his father gave him that name. His family had no background in football, and his parents worked in freelance jobs. From a young age, he showed a talent for sports, achieving good results in district and provincial - level running and shuttlecock - kicking competitions. At the provincial children's tournament, he scored many goals for U11 Tien Yen.

The turning point came at the age of 11, when relatives took him to try out at a Viettel recruitment round. After passing the tests, young Hai Long officially entered the academy, taking his first steps toward a professional football career.

But Hai Long's journey was not always smooth. At 15, he had to leave Viettel because of his physical build. Instead of giving up, Hai Long returned to Quang Ninh and continued pursuing football at Than Quang Ninh.

He then went on to play for youth teams, and for a period he was loaned to Lam Đong before returning to Quang Ninh. In 2020, Hai Long was promoted to the Than Quang Ninh first team and had his first V.League season, with 18 appearances and 2 goals.

From a young player who once had to leave Viettel, Hai Long gradually found his place again and began taking his first steps in professional football.

It seemed like the end, but for Hai Long it was only the beginning

In 2021, Hai Long's path reached a crossroads when Than Quang Ninh faced the risk of dissolution. From that upheaval, he moved to Ha Noi FC, which took over the remainder of his youth - training contract and signed him. He has stayed with the club since, on a contract running until 2029.

At Ha Noi FC, Hai Long found a stable environment in which to play and grow step by step. In May 2021, Hai Long was called up to the Vietnam national team for the first time and made his debut against Jordan. A year later, he won the gold medal with Vietnam U23 at the 31st SEA Games, a memorable milestone in his early years in national colors.

Moments that brought Hai Long closer to the fans

In the second leg of the 2024 final against Thailand, Hai Long was sent on in the closing minutes. With very little time left, his long - range shot went into the net just as the Thai goalkeeper had left his goal, sealing a 3 - 2 victory for Vietnam.

That goal became a memorable milestone in Hai Long's career, sending the stands into joyous uproar as the Vietnam national team became champions of this Southeast Asian tournament.

Two years later, he added another memorable chapter to his journey in the same competition. In the 2026 ASEAN Cup final, Hai Long came off the bench in the first leg on August 22 and made an immediate impact, scoring a goal and registering two shots on target to help Vietnam secure a 2 - 0 away victory over Thailand. His impressive performance also earned him the highest rating of the match.

In the second leg on August 26, Hai Long once again came on as a substitute, playing with energy and registering two attempts on goal. The 2 - 2 draw secured Vietnam’s championship title with a 4 - 2 aggregate victory over the two legs.

The journey of young talent in the national team jersey

Two tournaments, two different moments, but one thing in common: the ability to make an impact when the opportunity arises.

From a personal journey to a shared spirit

Kosmen sees in Nguyen Hai Long's story a value that resembles the brand's own journey of development. On the pitch, Hai Long keeps finding ways to raise his own limits. Likewise, Kosmen keeps improving its products, technology and user experience to better meet the needs of its users.

One is tested by every match. The other is tested by life's ever-higher demands. But both share the same outlook: what has been achieved today is not a reason to stop.

Nguyen Hai Long joins Kosmen on a journey to spread the spirit of Vietnam - rising beyond limits

That meeting of minds became the foundation for Nguyen Hai Long to officially take on the role of Kosmen Brand Ambassador. Together with Kosmen, Hai Long's image is placed within a broader story about the young Vietnamese generation: people who dare to step beyond familiar limits, take the initiative to create opportunities and aim for higher milestones.

"The Vietnamese spirit of rising beyond limits" thus becomes the shared motto of the partnership between Hai Long and Kosmen.

For Nguyen Hai Long, there are still new matches, new milestones and new limits ahead to conquer. For Kosmen, the journey continues too, driven by the aspiration to create new value for Vietnamese people and to take Vietnamese products and technology solutions step by step further. Because when the Vietnamese spirit keeps rising, limits are no longer the end of the journey but the starting point of a new step forward.
